Acute and Chronic Exposure

  Which is worse, 1 blow from a 10 000 g (10 kg) sledge hammer or 10 000 blows from a 1 g hammer?

Acute exposure occurs rapidly, usually in less than 24 hours. Chronic exposure occurs during a prolonged period that can last years. Acute and chronic exposure to the same total amount of a chemical substance can produce completely different effects.
